A product says "No data"

"No data" is not an error and not a safe product: it is a product missing something needed to compute its signal. Here is what is missing and how to supply it.

On this page
  1. Its stock was never recorded
  2. It has no stock recorded in that warehouse
  3. It has no forecast
  4. The "estimated" label
  5. The value shows as "—"

The stock signal needs two things from each product: a forecast (how much you will sell) and a recorded stock (how much you have). If either is missing, the product shows "No data" (stored as SIN_DATOS): no signal, no coverage and no suggested order quantity.

Its stock was never recorded

What you see: "No data" in the signal and "No record" in the stock column.

Why: StockAI does not invent zeros. An invented zero is indistinguishable from a counted one and would turn a full warehouse red, so until you say how much you hold, the product stays without a signal.

What to do: load the stock under Set up my inventory, by uploading your system's file or by filling it in under "Start with these". You can also edit it on the product card under Inventory. See Set up your inventory.

It has no stock recorded in that warehouse

What you see: when looking at one warehouse, "No data" with the note "Stock for this product was never recorded in this warehouse. That is not the same as zero: we do not know."

Why: with several warehouses, stock is recorded per warehouse. If your file or system only carries the main warehouse's stock, the others have no figure. That used to be read as zero, and StockAI suggested restocking every branch while the goods sat in the main one; now it shows as what it is: a missing figure.

What to do: record that product's stock in that warehouse, even if it is zero when it really is empty. See Warehouses and transfers.

It has no forecast

What you see: "No data" on a product that does have stock.

Why: the product is not in the active run, for one of these reasons:

  • It has fewer than 20 periods of history and was left out before training. Inventory says so in the notice about products left out of the forecast, with the reason.
  • It was not in the sales file the active run trained on (for example, a new product you added afterwards).
  • A reliable forecast could not be produced for it.

What to do: for a new product, include it in your next sales upload. If it lacks history, wait for it or try a weekly or monthly detail level (Granularity). If you believe it should be there, check under History which file the active run used.

The "estimated" label

This is not the same as "No data". A product with a signal can carry values marked "estimated": they are StockAI's assumptions because nobody set them. The most common:

Lead time
15 days, until you set it on the product or its supplier, and until StockAI learns it from 3 receptions. See Learned lead time.
Service level
95%, until you change it. See Safety stock.
Minimum order (MOQ)
1 unit.

The signal is computed all the same, but on assumptions. A supplier who really takes 45 days will be flagged too late while StockAI keeps assuming 15. As soon as you record the real figure, the label disappears.

The value shows as "—"

When the cost is missing, StockAI cannot value the stock or the order, and shows "—" instead of zero. The product still has a signal; what is missing is its money value. Add the cost under Set up my inventory and the figures fill in.
